Let me critique your paintings

Critique service

Picture
Do you want to have your work critiqued by me?  Want someone to review your paintings and make recommendations back to you? No problem.  I am happy to offer a critique service, online.  I would be able to make comments in the following areas...

  1. Subject choice - How good was the subject you chose?  Was it suitable for watercolour?
  2. Composition - How did you go about what to include in the painting and the position of main elements.
  3. Drawing skills.  What are your drawing skills like in the outline sketch
  4. Tone and Colour
  5. What's the focal point?
  6. Style.  What style are you aiming for?  Loose.....Tight....Impressionistic?
  7. Watercolor techniques.  What techniques have you chosen to use?  What's your wash like?  Other techniques - wet in wet, lost and found, dry brush strokes, body paint (the thick stuff!).
  8. Brush strokes.  How confident do the brush strokes look like?
  9. Did you achieve your objectives and what you set out to do?
  10. What were the best bits and why (in my opinion)?
  11. What needs to be improved on (in my opinion)?
  12. Action plan for the next painting - assuming you want to do something similar.

I could also arrange a Skype/zoom or online call with you to review your painting at a time to suit you (call duration about 5-10 minutes).

The cost of this service is £25 GBP per painting.  This can be paid via PayPal.  There is a lower cost option I can discuss with you.

What I need from you for this service is...
  1. Email me a photo of your painting (as high res as you can) or share with me a link (a URL link to the painting).
  2. What were you trying to achieve?
  3. The size of your painting
  4. Type of paper used
  5. Brushes you used (type, hair type, manufacturer)
  6. What manufacturer of paint did you use?  Are they Pan or Tube colours?
  7. What colours are in your palette?
  8. Time taken for the painting, start to finish.  Did you do it all in one go?
  9. Was it a 'Plein Air' or from a photo or your imagination?
  10. What things especially do you want me to review about the painting (everything or just certain things)?

If you need any more information about this service, please contact me.
